Hedwig Bollhagen’s bowl with the model number “549C” is the larger version of the slightly smaller bowl with model number 549B. Its distinctive feature is the spherical, bulbous body that widens toward the top. The vessel, which the employees at the Marwitz Ceramics Manufactory also like to call a “Kumpen,” stands on a cylindrical foot about one and a half centimeters high. With a diameter of 14 centimeters, the ten-centimeter-tall bowl is deeper than a plate but shallower than a bowl. And with a capacity of half a liter, the 400-gram Kumpen is likely one of the larger bowls in the Hedwig Bollhagen collection.
