The coffee cup with the model number “1065” has undoubtedly become one of the hidden classics from Hedwig Bollhagen’s ceramic workshop. This timelessly simple coffee cup was a staple of everyday design in the former GDR and is now being rediscovered by design enthusiasts. Its defining feature is the generously flared, spherical body that widens toward the top. At the bottom, the coffee cup’s delicate foot finds a stable hold in the circular opening of the saucer. With a capacity of 0.15 liters, the coffee cup—weighing 240 grams, standing six centimeters tall, and measuring fourteen centimeters wide—is already among the larger examples of its kind. Whether it’s Muckefuck, Blümchenkaffee, or Arabica, Sunday coffee can be served with particular style in Hedwig Bollhagen’s coffee cup.
